So…this morning my phone rang. It was Chipolte restaurant calling to tell me I won dinner for 10 for tomorrow nite. (Saturday Grampa & I went to Chipolte for lunch and I dropped in my business card.)
AB & the Doyles are coming over to eat burritos or burrito bowls. I wish I could share my burrito win with the Clibourns too. We will be thinking of you:-)

Friday evening grampa & I went to the movie to see Letters to Juliet. It was very predictable but sweet. It was fun to see places I had been when on VACA with Aunt Bette” a few years ago.

Our garden is looking good. We dug out a “rose of sharon” bush to replant. Now that it is planted it looks dead to me…Grampa says it is just in shock and will be alive next summer. The roots were so massive he had to hatchet them to dig out the bush. So possibly it is just in shock.

I planted 6 tomato plants. Can’t wait. As soon as we get the gardens mulched I will send pics.

Saturday nite AB, Katie, Conor, Uncle Bill Grampa & I went to see an Arena Football game. I got 6 free tickets at a chamber of commerce luncheon. It was quite amusing…and loud. The Sears arena is 1/2 the size of a football field and no sidelines only walls with pads. (I think they play hocky at the arena too.) It was fun to see Walter Peyton’s son playing and Steve McMichaels actually coaching the team – head coach – somehow Jim McMahon is involved as well.

Sunday after church & breakfast at Egg Habour we went to the Botanic Garden and walked around. My friend Claire is a tram tour driver…she included us on a tour. Much better than walking in the heat.

Well we really need to rest after such a busy week-end. It was so much fun.

“Durrf” is the word Conor likes to use to describe his latest accident. He was playing street hockey with the neighbor kids and took a stick to the eye. Ouch! He actually says it does not hurt too much, but is just puffy. I am sure that within the next couple of days we will get to see some spectacular colors set in.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that has helped me out for my trip!! everything helps and you guys definitely helped ALOT! i am sooo grateful for all of you and love you all so much! im so excited for this trip! its going to be amazing! i have never been overseas before let-alone Europe. i hope we get to do a little more traveling while were there. i think this trip is going to be really good for me! it will be nice to get away from school and work and everything… even my own language! haha! anyway, thank you all once again! im pretty sure i called everyone and at least left a message but if you havent gotten them, then here you go! haha i love you all sooo much and i cant wait to possibly see you guys this summer after the trip!

and back to reality…

so its 1:35 a.m. here and i cant sleep. the reason being that i am hamster sitting for a family that i babysit for, for a couple weeks, and i have 2 more days to go… but tonight i went in the office (where the hamster is staying) to check on it, and the side of the cage was popped off and the hamster is no-where to be found! i am freaking out inside and im pretty sure ellie got to it. i feel so bad! the little boy that i babysit loves that ting. but fortunately, he has been separated from it for a couple weeks and is probably starting to forget about it a little. or at least i hope so.

but on a good note…

Emily Dad and i just got back last night from visiting San Francisco and Berkeley! it was b-e-a-u-tiful! cold. but beautiful. the campus for Berkeley is all full of trees and old buildings. we went into San Francisco twice. once to go to “Fisherman’s Worf” and to the Golden Gate Bridge! it was awesome! Emily was saying how she could see Aunt Bette living there, it just seems kinda her style San Francisco, that is.

now we/Emily just has to go check out UCLA! UCLA is beautiful too! lots of grass and beautiful buildings as well. and it close to home so that she wont have to pay for rent or anything for the next couple years. but its her decision…

im gonna clean up my room a little bit and go to bed. i have a TON of dishes to do and in the morning im gonna text the people im hamster sitting for and tell them it got out of its cage tonight and were looking for it… its the truth! but im just not gonna tell then that we have a cat…. ha ha

5th Grade Musical

What a great performance. Katie did a great job in her 5th grade musical. She was a dancer and a lead narrator. She has grown up soooo much. Don’t worry the makeup was only allowed for the performance. We washed her face reaaaalllly good when we got home. Thank you to Gramma, Grampa and Aunt Bette for coming to her show. It was great to have you share in this fun experience!

Happy Mother’s Day

I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to everybody! I wish we could have all been together, but hopefully this summer :]

Saturday I went with my friends to old town Pasadena. We parked the car, and started walking to the boulevard (which I wasn’t personally too excited about: lots of people, cars, busy, busy, busy) when we saw a little alley way to out left. We decided to check it out. As we are walking down the alley, we come to an opening of the most beautiful terrace:

They were playing jazz music out of a CD player, and there were people on guitar, and there was a little bar just down the alley. We grabbed a couple beers and sat there for a while. I took some pictures.

There was also the cutest little shop.

Mother’s Day

Had a great Mother’s Day today! Started off with a delicious brunch at mom’s house. Then had a wonderful dinner at our house with Mom, Steve, Aunt Bette, Mom Doyle, Ed and Suzanne. Bill made yummy ribs on the grill and we had crock pot mac & cheese and GoRoma chopped Salad. Strawberry shortcake and chocolate b-day cake (for Suzanne) for dessert. Life is good when you have good food. Also recieved the most beautiful peom from Katherine – it made cry! And Bill ordered a serving platter for me from a cute little shop that we really liked when we were in New Orleans! It was a good day!

5th Grade Musical

Hey everyone, it’s Katie!
In 5th grade you have to participate in all the activities before you graduate. I get to participate in a musical. It’s Rock and Roll Forever! I got a great part, Lead Narrator. The musical is coming up and I’m soooooo nervous! Can’t wait though. It’s gonna be great. Love and miss all of you in California!
